PATHLET ROUTING 

    1. Scalability of routing system
    2. Multipath Routing :
    Solution to two important deficiencies of BGP: 
     * poor reliability
     * Sub-optimal path quality, in terms of metrics such as latency, throughput, or loss rate

 Pathlet routing's data plane can emulate the routing policies of BGP, 
 loose and strict source routing, and 
 three recent multipath proposals: NIRA, MIRO, and LISP 

THREE KEY IDEAS
1. path-lets and vnodes are highly flexible building blocks
2. AS whose policies have only local constraints can represent its policies using a small number of pathlets, 
  leading to small FIBs and many allowed paths
3. pathlet routing does not impose a global requirement on what style of policy is used
